Creativity Article

This article was very informative, as I learned a lot of things I never knew about the brain and creativity. First of all being the difference between "little-c" creativity and "Big-C" creativity. Little-c creativity is the creativity it takes to come up with small ideas like jokes, whereas Big-C creativity is used for bigger ideas like writing stories and doing experiments. I never knew that there is a scientific reason why some people are more creative than others. Through the complex experiments, the scientists were able to map out which parts and paths of the brain are used during creative thought and then further study how each test subject used the three systems of the "high-creative" network. In my experience, I have encountered people who were just simply not creative. I would say the findings presented in this article make sense in relation to how some of the people I know think and come up with ideas, so I would say my experiences prove the theo...

Raul Cuero Interview

I enjoyed listening to Dr. Cuero's perspectives from this interview. It was interesting how he discussed your ability to change society's perception of you by acting against what is expected. If you have a universal outlook you can move past prejudices and societal pressures put upon you to transcend what is the norm. You can do this by doing things nobody thinks you are capable of. I disagree with his definition of creativity because I think the meaning of being creative is being able to come up with unique ideas that go against what is common and has been done before. However, the doctor's definition does hold truth in the way that being a good observer of nature helps you form and support your new ideas and creations, by perhaps seeing things in a different light than others. I also disagree with Cuero when he states that children these days are at a disadvantage because of technology. I think technology can be a great tool in creativity and just because an indivi...

BIO Noah Luke Picture

Image
Noah Luke I am a Junior in the Film department here at UT. I enjoy making short films for class and in my free time I also like to make music and art. I like art, especially art that doesn't have a clear subject and theme. My favorite type of film is Experimental, and I like to incorporate a lot of hand made art into the videos. My favorite part about this type of art is that you don't need a goal when you start making it, but rather the art creates itself as you are making the piece.
